Here are this week’s three insights that will help you improve yourself:
1. Self-doubts
Because though our doubts (and self-doubts) feel real, they have very little bearing on what is and isn’t possible.
Those we call genius, are known to believe in themselves to the extent of delusion. Their actions and intentions seem crazy to the people around them.
Still, they are the ones—the crazy ones, as Jobs said—who change the world. Not the self-doubters, nor the be-like-the-rests, nor those who think they’re not capable.
But those who believe in themselves, and dare to challenge the limits. “They can because they think they can,” as the poet says.
2. To become a human
A dog is born a dog and a bird is born a bird, but to become a human being is an achievement
Just because someone looks human does not mean they are human. One has to make themselves human. Though it’s no easy task, it’s the only worthy task.
A real human is one who uses the ability available to them, which is only available to a would-be human. That is, reason.
Animals have instinct, but we have more than that. Some would say even animals are capable of complex thinking. That who knows, a crab might also be solving complex mathematical equations in its mind. To those, I will say, it is humans who dominate the earth, and not crabs or cats.
But even those who contribute a lot to our evolution cannot be considered human. To be human is to be wise. And if a person is not wise, which means they are merely led by emotions, they are just another kind of animal.
3. Good fault-finding
You can easily spot the ignorance of anyone, except yourselves.
Though sometimes, while doing so, it is your own ignorance that you are spotting.
We are conscious of others’ behavior, but unconscious of our own. So when someone acts differently than we ourselves might, we can easily detect their fault.
One must learn to regularly challenge one’s own behavior. It’s like finding traitors that are within your army. They look like friends, act like friends, but they are foes.
Until next time,
